 Bream take the honours at Smiggys

There are sixteen anglers booked in for this years Chairmans League, and the first round, on Smiggys, proved very tough for some of the competitors. A biting north wind and heavy rain for the first half of the match certainly didn't help matters! The rewards came for those who were patient enough to sit it out and wait for Bream.

It was very close for first place with Chris Shore and Dave Hemmings both netting five Bream each, Chris lost three good Bream during the match but still managed to stay just one ounce ahead of Dave to take the spoils. Chris Crane ended a couple of Bream behind the top two but his 13lb 11oz was good enough for third spot.

Section One was taken by Paul Cook, 11lb 4oz, who caught the only Tench of the day along with two Bream and a few skimmers. Simon Pepper on peg 17 needed only 1lb 4oz to take, easily the hardest section on the day, with pegs 11,12,14, and 15 managing only 1lb 6oz between them!!! Yours truly netted a "landing net pole busting" 8lb 12oz Carp along with a 3lb Bream and a few small silvers for 12lb 8oz, and the third section prize.
