Skimmers galore at Manor Farm
Pole fishing for Skimmer Bream was the tactic required for the latest round of the Sunday League. It was virtually "a bite a throw" for those lucky enough to draw the hot pegs and who chose to target the abundant Skimmer population.
Sixteen anglers were present at the draw, and this enabled the pegs to be well spread. Of the sixteen competitors, four elected to try for the larger Bream that are present at Manor Farm, but unfortunately the bigger fish did not want to play ball!!
Twelve anglers "weighed in" at the end of the match and the total weight was more than 150lb!! an excellent return for a silver fish match. Top angler on the day was Jason Farmery with 30lb 14oz of Skimmers, all caught at about 3-4 metres from the bank on peg 24, fishing maggot and pinkie over groundbait. In form, Den Porter finished in second place using similar tactics on peg 13 to record 27lb 8oz. Third spot was claimed by yours truly, fishing peg 11, with 21lb 4oz. A very enjoyable day, with favourable weather conditions, which made a nice change!!
So if you want to see your float disappear on a regular basis, then get on down to Manor Farm and enjoy some excellent pole or waggler fishing!!!
